ClassThere is a social hierachy in 'The Taming of the Shrew' which includes servents. noblemen, lords and a drunken beggar.Social class is presented in the play when Baptista offers a dowry if petruchio can tame Katherina.Another example of a social class is money, like when Joey pays Patrick to take Kate out.

GenderThe Taming of the Shrew has a lot to say about women and their rolls as wives who 'do what they are told'.In ten things I hate about you, Joey and Cameron will do anything to be with Bianca.

YouthYoung people in The Taming of the Shrew are trying to find thier identities. Bianca wants to fit the traditional role of a woman and be married, but Katherina fights against this. She does not want to be obiedient to a husband.

Petruchio deploys some tried and true torture techniques – starvation, sleep deprivation, psychological manipulation, and good old fashioned humiliation – to get Kate to behave the way he wants.

Even though I enjoyed the book and the movie,I have to say that I found that '10 things I hate about you' was my favorite, as it was easier to follow. After watching the movie, 'The Taming of the Shrew' made a lot more sense, and the movie was a lot more... relatable.

'The taming of the Shrew' is set in Padua, Italy
