The Kiowa Indians (KY oh wah)

They were located in the Texas Panhandle, north of present Amarillo

Women were in charge of the home. (cooking, cleaning, and building) Men were hunters and warriors.

As transportation, they used rafts and dogs pulling travois.(a kind of drag sled)

Their celebrations and customs are Sun Dances around Summer Solstice, family tipis, and six military societies called the Rabbits, Younge Mountain Sheep, Horse Caps, Black Legs, Skunkberry People, and Chief Dogs.

They used bow and arrows, spears, clubs, and high shields.

They were good at beadwork and buffalo hide paintings.
