My favorite part of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn was the second book, which consisted of the flashback of Katie and Johnny's life. I liked going through their life and seeing what they went through in their early life.
In Cold Sassy, my favorite part was when Will was almost ran over by a train. That was my favorite part because it added even more drama to the book, and made the audience wonder if Olive Ann Burns was really going to kill off her main character.
Cold Sassy Tree & A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
The main theme in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is you can get through anything with your family. I think that is the main theme because Francie's family may be poor, but they live as though they are rich at times with the love of family.
The main theme in Cold Sassy Tree is death is apart of life. I think that is the main theme because Will's life consists of many deaths, more than anything else, but he learns to deal with their impacts and moves on.
