FOOD!!!!!!

The Coahuiltecans had medicine men. They did very odd things to "cure" the tribe members. They would cut their skin, or they would brand them with a hot stick. Rarely they would put their hands on the sick to make them well. De Vaca became a medicine man. He prayed that everyone would be well!

SHELTER!!!

clothing

Since south central texas is very hot, the Coahuiltecans wore little clothing. They wore fiber sandals and in bad weather they wore animal hide.

The shelter that the Coahuiltecans lived in is what they call wickup huts. They are made from sticks, animal skin, and grass. In that picture the sticks are for the actual hut. The grass and animal skin are for shade.

For food the Coahuiltecans ate beans, maguey, root crowns prickly pear fruit, and pecans. They hunted deer, buffalo, armadillo, and rabbits. When they came to a stream they would dip their hands in the water and hope of catching fish!
