Battle of AtlantaOn May to September 1864 in Atlanta.General William T. Sherman captured Atlanta and burned everything in his except Savannah. This Battle is important because of its location and commercial importance.
Battle of Fort SumterOn April 12,1861 the confederates fired the first shot of the civil war at the fort. After two days of on going fire Major Robert Anderson (union) surrerendered to General Pierre G. T. Beauregard (confederate).This battle is very important because it was the first battle and it was the first win for the confederate and the unions first lost.
Battle of AntietnamOn Sept 17,1862 in Northwestern Maryland the bloodiest single day battle of the civil war happen. McClellan's army defeated Robert E. Lee’s Confederate army. This battle is important because soon after president Lincoln issued the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation.
Vicksburg CampaignThe campaign took place in western Mississippi from December 1862 to July 1863. Ulysses S. Grant was able to capture the city of Vicksburg after the fourth time. This battle was important because it gave union troops the turning point in the civil war.
