•the south had to import everything from Great Britain so the south couldn’t receive anything •there were over 650 private blockade runners in 1861 •There were about 6000 blockade ships before the end of the war •cotton, medicine,and clothes were needed for the south that was provided by the blockader •the north tore the tracks so that trains couldn't function and nothing could be brought in for the southerners •as the manufacturing facilities broke, they couldn't repair anything, so whatever damaged goods they had, they had to remain damaged. •People in hospitals needed medication that was running out, so many people died from disease
