On April 9, 1865, General Robert E. Lee surrenders to Union General Ulysses S. Grant at the Appomattox Court in Virgina.

On December 13, 1962, the Army of Potomac lost 12,653 in Fredrickberg, Virgina.

On November 15, 1964, 62,000 men began a march to the sea after Atlanta's warehouse.

On April 14, 1865 in Fords theater in Virgina at 10:13 pm president Abe Lincoln was shot in the head by John Wilkes Booth, Lincon died the next day at 7:22 am. Andrew Johnson soon took over Lincon's presidency.

On May 1,1863 the battle of Chancellorville began.
