Circulatory System

FUNCTIONS-Transfer blood and oxygen from the lungs throughout the body-The heart pumps blood through the body- Removes carbon dioxide from the cells-heats the body-transfers hormones

Difference between the right and left sideThe left side of the heart pumps blood with high amounts of oxygen while the right side pumps blood with a low concentraiton of oxygen.

Components of the bloodRed blood cells carry oxygen throughout the body.White blood cells fight off diseases.Platelets help blood clot.Plasma carries nutrients, protiens, and hormones through the body.

How does the heart work?Atria and vetricles work together alternatly contracting and relaxing to pump blood through the body system. The sinoatrial node sets the pace of the heart. The antitreventical node acts like a gate to control circuts. Purjunkie circut sends out the impuses.

What is meant by blood Pressure? The pressure of blood in the circulatory system related to the force and rate of the heartbeat and the diameter and elasticity of the arterial walls

How are blood cells produced? The kidney releases a hormone called erythproein which stimulates the stem cells in order to produce more red blood cells. The spleen destorys depleated red blood cells and the marrow is where the red blood cells develop.

Pulminary and Sysmetic CircutsPulminary takes CO2 and gets it oxygenated and then takes it to the heartSysmetic recieves oxygenated blood and sends back impure blood to the heart

Diseases of the HeartHypetension is a condition in which the force of the blood against the artery walls is to high.Artherosclerosis is the buildup of fats, cholesteral, and other substances on the artery walls.
