Christopher Columbus was a navigator who organized many expeditions. He was born in Genoa, Italy in 1451. Christopher was the eldest of five children. He married Felipa Perestrello Moniz in 1479 and had one child, Diego. He achieved his fame by sailing for Spain across the Atlantic Ocean in search of a new sea route to Asia. He never made it to Asia, but explored new land in the Caribbean and Central and South America. In 1506, Columbus died in his home in Spain.
