Cholesterol And Hypercholesterolemia

Cholesterol is a soft, waxy, fat-like substance that is a natural component of all the cells in the body. There are two main types of cholesterol: low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (the "bad" cholesterol) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (the "good" cholesterol).

What is Cholesterol?

What is Hypercholesterolemia?

Hypercholesterolemia or high cholesterol happens when there is too much cholesterol in the body.

What are the dangers of Hypercholesterolemia?

When a lot of "bad"cholesterol formes in blood, sticky deposits that are called plaque form in the blood vessels until the vessel is blocked. This illness is called Atherosclerosis.

HEART : heart attack which occurs when the supply of blood and oxygen to an area of heart muscle is blocked, usually by a clot in a coronary artery. This causes heart muscle to die.

BRAIN : Stroke and mini-stroke - occurs when a blood clot blocks an artery interrupting the flow to an area of the brain. Brain cells begin to die.

to prevent this from happening, you must:

Symptoms

The only symptoms I found by my research is if you have a lot of pain in one of your arms or if you dont feel half your body . The only way to find out if someone has hyperchlosterolemia or not is by measuring there blood

.Dont eat more than 10 percent fat, . Choose unsaturated fats, such as olive oil and canola oil, instead.Eat whole grains. Eat more fruits and vegetables, which are high in fiber and can help lower cholesterol levels. Eat fatty fish. The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends that people eat at least 2 servings of fatty fish (such as salmon or herring) each week.Eat phytosterols and stanols found in nuts, seeds, vegetable and oils. Studies show that eating 2 - 3 grams of phytosterols daily reduces total cholesterol by up to 11% and LDL cholesterol by up to 15%.eat fiber foods, especially oats, barley, and legumes, as well as fruits, vegetables, and other whole grains.

Distribution/Effect on world

"71 million American adults (33.5%) have high LDL, or “bad,” cholesterol.Only 1 out of every 3 adults with high LDL cholesterol has the condition under control.Less than half of adults with high LDL cholesterol get treatment.People with high total cholesterol have approximately twice the risk of heart disease as people with optimal levels. A desirable level is lower than 200 mg/dL.The average total cholesterol level for adult Americans is about 200 mg/dL, which is borderline high risk.2" said the CDC websites
