Chinese New Year

In China, every late January or early febuary, Chinese New Year happens. People celebrate, and honor people who are dead. It starts with a new moon, and ends with a full moon. Fireworks and firecrackers are commonly set off. On the last event of the Chinese New Year, it is the lantern festival. People hang lanterns in temples, or carry them during a nighttime parade. The dragon dance is the highlight of the celebrations almost everywhere in China. Dancers hide under a dragon and preform the dragon dance. Each year has a different animal, the Chinese New Year celebrates the next animal's year. People wear the color red for good luck. Food that is commonly servered is: Dumplings, fish, spring rolls, and niangao.
