Chimney cleaning is extrmemly dirty and unsafe for children

Children work around dangerous machinery for long hours and for only 1/3 the salary of a grown man. Children were commonly chosen to fix the machines if the broke down.

Children were expected to work in an awful, unclean environment everyday.
