The Chernobyl Disaster

On the 26th of april 1986, a test was about to be conducted on reactor #4 in Chernobyl. What happened was a power surge followed by an emergency shutdown which ultimately failed caused the disaster. Seconds later 2 expolosions followed, the second bigger than the last. Releasing radioactive gas over 3280 feet in the air with colorful flames. Firemen were the first on the scene, fighting the flames without any protective gear. Soon after the exlosion, it is said that people gathered to a railroad bridge to watch the colorful flames, everyone who was on it died from radiation poisoning. The bridge is now known as the bridge of death. In the days that passed, officals were slow to react because they were in denial that any radiation was leeking out.

WHAT HAPPENED

3 FORGOTTEN HEROES

Without theese 2 of the three men, most of eroupe would be contaminated with radiation. Alexei Ananenko and Valeri Bezpalovn had to swim through radioactive water to switch a relase valve. If the reactor broke it would cause a huge steam explosion releasing radiation through the whole of eroupe. Soon afterwords they all died.

This is a picture of "the bridge of death". It is said that once the accendent had occured, people watched the colorful flames on this railroad bridge. they all died from radiation poisioning. While this story isnt confirmed, if you stand there long enough you will die from the large amounts of radiation
