Chemical Reactions Christopher Gale March 9, 2015

Synthesis: Is a reaction when two simple chemicals react together to make a new complex product.Example: 2Na + Cl2 -> 2NaCl2. Reactants-> Sodium + Chlorine.Product-> Sodium Chloride.

Decomposition: Is a reaction when you break down a complex reacton to make simpler products.Example: 2H2O -> 2H2 + O2.Reactants-> Water.Products-> Hydrogen + Oxygen.

Synthesis: One of the reactants is Chlorine. Chlorine is a grennish-yellow gas and is room temperature. It becames a liguid at 34 degress celsius. The atomic mass of Chlorine is 35.4527, its boiling point is -34.6 degrees celsius, and the melting point is -100.98 degress celsius.

The other reactant is Sodium. Sodium has an atomic weight of 22,9898. it is a soft metal, reactive with a low melting point. The density about 0.97 at 20 degress celsius. Sodium is also an alkali metal, and reacts quickly with water. When exposed to air, Sodium loses its silvery appearance and shows up as a greyish color.

Combustion: Is a reaction that releases electrical energy in the form of heat and light.Example: CH4 +2O2 -> CO2 + 2H2O. Reactants-> Carbon, Hydrogen, + Oxygen.Product-> Hydrogen Oxygen.

Endothermic: Is a reaction when the energy is absorbed from its surroundings in the form of heat.Exothermic: Is a reaction that releases energy by light or heat.

These two reactants make a product of Sodium Chloride. Sodium Chloride is white and is a crystalline solid. The density is 2170 kmg, the boiling point is 801 degress celsius, and the melting point is 801 degress celsius.

Evidence Of A Chemical Reaction:1) Color Change.2) Formation of a Precipitate.3) Formation of a Gas.4) Temperature Change.
