Charles Rennie Mackintosh

Charles was Born in Glasgow. He was the second son in a family of eleven children.When he was sixteen he was working at the Glasgow architect office. In 1889 to 1913, Mackintosh was at the firm of Honeyman & Keppie. He became a partner in 1904. All his most important architectural and decorative work was done during this period. After he left Scotland in 1913, he didnt work as much. In 1920, he gave up architecture and devoted the remainder of his life to painting.


He won the competition for the building of the new School of Art in Glosgow.Influenced European designMackintosh was the reason they had the Glasgow School of Art

Hill House in Helensburgh, Scotland is one of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's most famous works, probably second only to Glasgow School of Art. It was designed and built for the publisher Walter Blackie in 1902 – 1904.
