Charles Darwin as A young boy

His Trip To The Galopagos Islands

Charles Darwin is known for his work as a naturalist, developing a theory of evolution to explain biological change.

What Is He Known For

FINCHES-He studied them further, he realized they were all the same type of bird, and that each island had its own distinct species of finch. The birds on different islands had many similarities, but their beaks differed in size and shape.IGUANAS-The members of one iguana species spent much of their time swimming and diving underwater for seaweed, while those of another iguana species lived on land and ate cactus.GIANT TORTOISES-Tortoises that ate plants near the ground had rounded shells, while the tortoises that stretched their necks to reach plants higher in shrubs had shells that bent upwards, allowing them to stretch their necks upward.

How Does Natural Selection

His Observations

Natrual Selection is the process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive and produce more offspring.Natural selection is a simple mechanism that causes populations of living things to change over time. It can be broken down into five basic steps, abbreviated as V.I.S.T.A.: Variation, Inheritance, Selection, Time and Adaptation.

In September 15,1835, he went to the galopagos islands, because he wanted t0 see volcanos. His ship was called the HMS Beagle
