Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin was a comic actor, composer, producer, director and British writer. He gained popularity for her character in multiple movies, Charlot, of the silent period. Thereafter, it is considered a symbol of humor and silent film. By the end of the First World War, was one of the most recognized men of world cinema.

To date, he is considered one of the most representative figures that show the silent film as well as an icon of humor. Four years after his death, an Ukrainian astronomer Lyudmila Karachkina, discoverer of 131 asteroids, named one Chaplin 3623 in honor of the actor. It has also been featured in several animated series, and in 1985 was honored with his image on postage stamps in the UK. The review said it had reached "a level of dramatic expression that was never surpassed."
