Cesar Chavez was born March 31st 1927 near Yuma, Arizona. He had two brothers and sisters. His family owned a farm. When he was 11 years old the great depression hit and caused their family to lose their farm.
Accomplishments
1938- Chavez family leaves yuma to work in California. 1924- Chavez forced to leave school.1962- Joined the Farm Workers Association1968- Begins a fast for non-violece which lasted 25 days
He was the co-founder of the United Farm Wokers Assosiation.First union contracts requiring rest periods, clean drinking water, hand washing stations and protective clothing against pesticide exposure. First health benefits for farm workers and families.On August 8 1994, his family received Presidential Medal of Freedom from Bill Clinton.
Lasting Impact
Cesar Chavez changed the world of farm workers by giving them more than what they were giving.
