ABOUT US

Why are we studying in a Spanish school, you might ask. Well, the answer is simple: it’s because learning a foreign language ever since your first years of existence will be extremely useful later in your life. In Cervantes we learned the basics of Spanish in the first grades and slowly built our knowledge over the years. Spanish is a widely spoken language, almost as popular as English, and the culture and history of Spain is more than spectacular. We learn to appreciate Spanish as much as we appreciate our mother tongue, Romanian.  Our teachers also try to stimulate us with different types of teaching Spanish. They don’t just come in the class, write on the chalkboard and then leave, telling us to learn the lesson. They always try to come up with something new; for example, they get us involved in all sorts of projects, such as “Hispanic Day” (Día de la Hispanidad), where each class had to prepare a project in order to present it in the festivity hall, in front of all teachers and students. Each class received an award that described their project the best. For example, our class received the award for ‘the most artistic presentation’. We even had a food contest, where the high schoolers prepared all sorts of traditional foods, such as paella, gazpacho and tortilla, whilst we, the younger kids, along with the teachers, had to taste it and vote for the most delicious food.  Everyone from Cervantes loves this types of activities where all of us reunite as a family; I remember one of my colleagues saying: “We are a family! We are the Cervantes family!”, and she was right. We are the Cervantes family!
