Cellular Respiration

Cellular Respiration

Kreb/Citric Acid Cycle--In the mitochondrial matrix--The pyruvate turns into AcetylCoA--Steps follow which form NADH, 2ATP, FADH2, 2CO2

Anaerobic respiration1. Makes ATP without oxygen. 2. Produces lactic acid or alcohol (fermentation).

Aerobic Respiration:1. Aerobic means using oxygen.2. Respiration is the process of breaking up molecules to obtain energy (ATP--adenosine triphosphate). Requires molecules to break up--like glucose. Waste is CO2 and water.3. Steps:Glycolysis, Krebs Cycle, Electron Transport

Gotta Feeling

Electron Transport Chain--In the Mitochondria Inner Membrane. Makes water and 32 ATP using energy from NADH and FADH2.

Glycolysis--In the cytoplasm--makes pyruvate; makes and uses up 2ATP

Animation

ATP=ADP + PNADH=NAD+ + HFADH2=FAD + H2ATP stores energy in its P_ bonds. When ATP becomes ADP, energy is released.ATP is continually cycled and recycled.
