Cells

Cell:The Fundamental Unit of Life

Golgi Bodies: It consists of a system of membrane bound vesicles arrangeed approx. parallel to each other in stacks.

Robert Hooke discovered cells using a self-discovered microscope in 1665.

~ Cells are made up of special components called Organelles. ~ All cells have 3 common features: Plasma membrane, nucleus and cytoplasm.~ Activities inside the cell and interactions with the environment are possibl due to these features.

ER: The endoplasmic reticulum is a large network of membranebound tubes and sheets.

Mytochondria: It is known as the powerhouses of the cell. They provide energy for chemical activities in the cell.

Lysosomes: They are a kind of waste disposal system of the cell. It helps to keep the cell clean.

Plastids: Present only in plant cells. Plastids that contain chlorophyll- chloroplasts help in photosynthesis.

Vacuoles: They are storage sacs for solid or liquid contents. Small sized in animals and large sized in plant cells.
