Cathrine The Great

Catherine the Great was proclaimed empress on July 9, 1792 after her husband was overthrown. During her reign she extended russian territory, tried to break up the Ottoman Empire, and annexed Crimea. She also specified Poland's borders in 1764 and went to war with Turkey in 1768.

Accomplishments

Extended Russian territory. In a series of wars tried to gain land for Russia by breaking up the Ottoman Empire.Gained back territory on the north coast of the Black Sea by annexing Crimea.
