The catapult is a medieval siege weapon used to weaken and destroy enemy defenses. They make excelent strategies of attack, but take a lengthy time to load or ready. Catapults were used in the Middle Ages. They usually depend on a counterweight to generate the launching force needed to hurl the object to another location. There are many different catapults, which all have special needs.

The word Catapult comes from the two greek prefixes, "kata" and "pallo".
Greek Dionysius, the Elder of Syracuse, was the inventor of the catapult.
