Castles were primsrily built during the wars of the late Middle Ages for the purpose of protection.
Castles and Cathedrals!
A 'Motte' was a large mound of earth, and a 'Bailey' was the flattened area beside the mound. The 'Motte' surrounded with a ditch, and buildings could be placed on the bailey- mad of timber or, if time permitted, stone.
THE DESIGNS OF CASTLES....
A cathedral is a church. In these churches a bishop has his headquarters, but the purpose why they have these cathedrals are to worship are god and practice their faith.
PURPOSE OF CATHEDRALS.
PURPOSE OF CASTLES...
Most cathedrals where the style of the Romanesque. Most of the time cathedrals were designed with columns and, round arches.
