[2014] YeseniaGodines (7th Period US History): Cameras And Photography

Cameras were invented in 1816. The first photograph was tookin in 1826, by Joseph Nicephore. It was invented to capture images of people and important events, so they could share later on in history. This helped during the Indusrtial Revolution because it captured important moments that would not have been discovered unless proof was brought up.In there first attempt of taking a picture they had to stand still infront of a camera for about 8 hours before any image could be printed. This invention also made the photography industry much stronger and more populated. In 1855 the thought of color photography was brought up by James Clerk Maxwell, and the first color image was tookin in 1861 by Thomas Sutton. Now we still use cameras and photography they are used for the same purposes as before just that now they are much smaller and very advanced so we can capture about anything we want to.

The first attempt at printing in 1826, was done by using chemicals and an exposure of 8 hours. Since it took a long time to reveal the pictures, they would have to remain in the position they wanted the picture in for a longer peroid of time.

Photography was undoubtedly one of the most important inventions of history. It helped in many ways, for example in 1877 a picture of a horse was taken, and was later used to solve a long-standing debate over whether or not all four of a horse's feet left the ground during a full gallop.
