Time Line
Stage1
The egg is very small and usually laid on a leaf.
DID YOU KNOW?...Butterflies attach their eggs to leaves with a special glue!
An adult butterfly will eventually emerge from the chrysalis where it will wait a few hours for its wings to fill with blood and dry, before flying for the first time.
-Butterflies have taste receptors on their feet.-Butterflies also have four wings
Most butterflies feed on nectar from flowers.

Stage2
The caterpillar (or larva) is a long worm. It can be different colors, and has many legs. This stage is the feeding and growing stage. While it is growing, it sheds its skin four or more times so as to enclose its rapidly growing body.
Stage3
The chrysalis (or pupa) is when the caterpillar tissues are broken down and it is transforming into an adult.
