My Prediction
What I think will happen!
I think that the candles will burn at the same rate because they are both made out of wax. The only difference between the candles is the color, and I do not think that makes candes burn at different rates. ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Do white candles burn at a different rate than colored candles?

White candles do not burn at a different rate compared to colored candles. The hypothesis in this experiement was supported because the red candle and the white candle burned at the same rate of 1/2 inches every 10 minutes. The candles reached the same mark at the same time, and continued to burn at the same speed. No other variables were tested and only one trial was completed in this experiment. Because the candles used were made by the same company with the same wax, and are the same size, the rate at whcih the candles burned was equal. Why do we care? Candles are often used in emergencies. If we are faced with an emergency it would be important to know which candle will provide us the most light, or heat, for the longest. It is also important from a cost perspective. A consumer would want to purchase the candle that lasted the longest. In this case, it does not matter.
1. Candles were measured and marked every 1/2 inch.2. Candles were placed in holders and placed on wax paper. 3. Candles were lit simultaneiously. 4. The timer was set for 10 minutes. 5. The candle was measured and recorded. 6. Steps 4-5 repeated for 70 minutes total. 7. Final observations and conclusions were made.
