Bullfrog Dissection

The purpose of the bullfrog dissection lab was to introduce us to what we will be doing in class this year. It introduced us to the lab and how things will go througout the year. We also did this lab to compare the anatomy of a bullfrog to a human. The picture above is a selfie with my partner Sofia and our bullfrog.

Respiratory

An obvious differnce between a human and bullfrog reproduction system is that a bullfrog can hold up to 20,000 eggs at a time whereas a human can only hold one fetus at a time. A similarity is that both need an attribute from a male specimen. The picture above shows the many eggs inside a femal bullfrog.

Reproductive

A differnce between a bullfrog and a human's skin is that a bullfrog's skin helps them breathe. A differnce is that a bullfrog's skin is darker on the dorsal side which helps it stay hidden from predators better. This picture shows the different colored skin.

Skin

A bullfrog is different from a human in the urinary system because a bullfrog's large intestine is connected to a cloaca which is where the solid waste leaves a frog. Humans don't have that. A similarity between the two is that each has a gall bladder and a urinary bladder. The picture up above shows where the waste exites the body.

Urinary

Something a bullfrog and a human digestive system have in common is that they are both carnivores. A difference between the two is that human's teeth are more useful than frogs teeth. In the above picture, you can clearly see the intestines and the stomach.

Digestive

A similarity between a bullfrog and a human is that both have a pair of lungs. A differnce is that the bullfrog is able to breathe through its skin. The picture above shows the bullfrogs lungs.

Skeletal

A similarity between a bullfrog and a human skeletal structure is that both have a vetrebrae. A differnce is that a bullfrog has no ribs.In the picture above, you can clearly see the jaw bone and where we cut through the bone.
