Buddhism is a major, nontheistic world religion practiced by many. Buddhism was founded between the 6th to 4th century by Siddhartha Gautama or as he is more commonly known the Buddha. Buddha means the enlightened one, which he accomplished through the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path.

The Buddha

The Four Noble Truths are composed of the truths to suffering and the truths to eliminate all suffering. The Eightfold Path is the fourth Noble Truth that acts as a guideline to help end suffering. The ultimate goal of practicing the Eightfold is Nirvana, which is reached once the cycle of birth, suffering, and rebirth are escaped.

The main beliefs of Buddhism are that all misbelieves and negativity can be overcome through the practice of meditation. Gutama was an advocate for rebirth and reincarnation and portrayed the idea that individuals can find happiness regardless of their race, and age.
