The Brooklyn Bridge was built in 1883. It took about 14 years to build and over $15 million dollers.

The Brooklyn Bridge had a rumor going around saying it was going to collapse. There were about 10,000 people on the bridge when it happened. Several people got crushed in a small spaced stairwell. Most people came out bloodied and some with no clothing. The bridge never collapsed though

The bridge is 131 years old. The bridge is also famous for (at the time it was built) being one of the worlds longest suspention bridges. It was dubbed the eigth wonder of the world because of its 275 foot tall towers

The bridge cordinates are 40.7057 N. and 73.9964 W. The bridge is located in Brooklyn, New York. The bridge connects Brooklyn to Manhattan

During the bridge construction, 20 people died from either falling off of the towers and hiting debre in the water or being scumbed by cassion desease.

On May 17,1884, showman P.T. Barnum led 12 elephants on the bridge to prove the bridge was stable.Each of the suspending cables is 3,578 feet, 6 inches long and 15 1/2 inches thick, and contains 21,000 wires, conbined, would have a total of 14,060 miles long.

The bridge used ( during the night ) 70 arc lights powered by USIC ( United States Illuminating Co. ). The lights cost $18,000 less than the Edison Company bid. The lights have 2,000 candel power per 1 light bulb

The suspention construction contains 6,740 tons of material and the bridge was made to hold up to 7 times it's weight.

A man attempted to use a suit like item to fly. He jumped off of the bridge and the mision failed, but he swam upstream 1000 feet.
