Axon: The long threadlike part of a nerve cell along which impulses are conducted from the cell.

Sensory Neuron: a neuron conducting impulses inwards to the brain or spinal cord.

Motor Neuron: A nerve cell forming part of a pathway along which impulses pass from the brain or spinal cord to a muscle or gland.

Myelin: A white fatty material, composed chiefly of lipids and lipoproteins, that encloses certain axons and nerve fibers.

Corpus Collosum: Connets the right side of the brain to the left

Thalamus: A large ovoid mass of gray matter situated in the posterior part of the forebrain that relays sensory impulses to the cerebral cortex.
