Brahma

Brahma is known as the God of CREATION in Hinduism. This deity symbolizes great Supreme Reality towards those who belive in the Hindu religion. Brahama is belived to be the Creator of the Universe. Brahma is the 1st member of the Hindu Trinity alongside Shiva (destroyer deity) and Vishnu (preserver deity). Brahma`s beloved wife- Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge and learning which she provides to Brahma for the process of creation.

Brahma is known for creating the Universe as a whole.This deity had the job of creating all the creatures and human beings within our world.Before the cosmos existed, it was only Brahma who was present. He felt lonely and indequate and therefore was inspired to create our wonderful universe. In this case, Brahma is known as the father of Dharma - The ultimate moral balance of all things.

This magnificent deity is known to be delicate and colourful due to her creations (the universe) which is also colourful and delicate. Brahma is portrayed by Hindus as a bearded, four-faced, four-armed deity. This deity carries a rosary in the upper right hand, a book in the upper left hand, water pot in the lower left hand, and bestows grace with His lower right hand. The four faces represent the 4 Vedas which in term show Brahma's knowledge. The four arms represent the four directions and show Brahma's wisdom. The four hands represent the four aspects of human personality: mind intellect , ego, and consciosness.

Symbolism of Items

Brahma's counterpart is his beloved wife Saraswati, the goddess of learning and knowledge. This female gives Brahma all the knowledge necessary to perform his creation. Since Brahma is viewed as the goddess of creation, with Saraswati's knowledge, Brahma is more than capable to complete his mission on creating our universe. Saraswati(Brahma's counterpart) serves to Brahma in hopes of creating the universe.
