Tuskegee was a school for African Americans which developed vocational curriculum

Known as a racial accommodationist.1901 publication of his best selling autobiography "Up from Slavery"

Roosevelt invited him to the White House to consult him as an advisor on racial issues but the whites took as a threat to have Washington in the White House and the blacks took it as a sign of progress for racial equality
