Robert Nesta Marley, otherwise known as Bob Marley, was born in St. Ann Parish, Jamaica on February 6th, 1945. The style of music that Bob Marley and the Wailers played was Reggea. Marley’s band, the Wailers, was made of members who were Marley’s close childhood friends, “Bunny” O’Riley Livingston, Mclntosh, Junior Braithwaite, Beverley Kelso, and Cherry Smith. Kelso and Cherry later, left the band.

Bob Marely has had a huge inmpact on our music and world. After he passed, his family started "The Marley Foundation." This organization helps people fighting oppression, since this topic was alway near and dear to Marley. In the music idustry, Marley was welcomed into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in 1994. He was the first international superstar to ermerge from a third world country. Bob Marley has infulenced me and he is one of my favorite music artists. He is a true role model to me because he came from a tough life and he still made it big in the music industry. He tought me that if I really have a passion for something and I work hard at it, then I can achive it.

Bob Marely was married to Rita Marley on Febuary 10th, 1966. Rita and Bob had 9 kids but some were not biologically Bob's kids. Most of there kids were involved in the music industry. They were either singers/performers or in the family's record label. Ziggy Marely carries on Bob Marley's reggea legend and happens to be a very famous artist to this day.

In 1977, Marley had a health scare. He had a cancerous cell in his toe. His doctor suggested that he get his toe amputated but Marley refused. His religion, Rastafarian, prohibited him from getting the surgery. At that point without the amputation, it was clear that Marley wasn’t going to live much longer. He insisted on returning home before he died. Marley was not able to complete his journey home. He died in Miami Florida, May 11th, 1981.
