Blues

“Once the Delta blues made their way up the Mississippi to urban areas, the music evolved into electrified Chicago blues, other regional blues styles, and various jazz-blues hybrids. A decade or so later the blues gave birth to rhythm 'n blues and rock 'n roll.”

In 1941, folklorists Alan Lomax from The Library of Congress, went looking for blues musician Robert Johnson.

Johnson's performances were unequalled. Bottleneck leads alternating with driving rhythms and lyrics sung in a high tense voice create masterpieces of the genre.

It was in 1943 that Muddy Waters packed up his belongings and headed to Chicago, Illinois, where at that time music was shaping a generation.
