Blue Blubber Jellyfish

Jellyfish have an incomplete digestive system, with no liver or pancreas!

The blue blubber uses its oral arms to capture its food. Its oral arms are lined with numerous nematocysts that contain venomous stings. When blue blubbers come in contact with a prey, they inject their venom into the prey in order to kill or paralyze it. Once the prey is immobilized, the blue blubber eats it with its tiny mouths.

Jellyfish have a small digestive cavity that contains their gullet, stomach, and intestine.

Jellyfish feed on small fish and zooplankton that become caught in their tenticles.

Jellyfish are carnivorous and only live 3 to 6 weeks.

The same opening is used for food intake and waste expulsion.

Human's digestive process begins in the mouth. Saliva starts to digest carbohydrates into simple sugars, and teeth begin mechanical digestion (physical) by chewing and grinding food.

Then it travels through the esophagus and into the stomach, where hydrochloric acid and Pepsin break protein into amino acids. The half-digested food called chyme moves into the small intestine, as well as bile from the liver and pancreatic juices. The food travels through the duodenum, jejunum, then the ileum of the intestine, the fat being digested into fatty acids, and nutrients being digested into the bloodstream to feed cells. Then the food travels into the large intestine, where the water is sucked out of it. The digested food goes into the rectum for storage, and then is expelled by the anus.

Jellyfish cannot afford to carry heavy food items for long because it weighs them down so they can't float. Therefore, their digestive process and waste expulsion is fast.
