Bloody sunday

On 13th january 1972, a civil right march took place in Londonderry, during this march 13 people were killed when british soldiers opened fire. This day has been known as Bloody Sunday. It is not clear what happened but the soldiers say they were fired upon from the Rossville flats as they moved in to make arrests and that they returned fire.

For a long time Irealnd was ruled by Great Britain. However, many people didn't want thins and made a campaign to make Ireland independent.

Bloody Sunday has been made into a film and there is a song deticated to it.
