Bismuth

The chemical element bismuth was discovered in 1753 by a French chemist named Claude François Geoffroy.

Before this time, bismuth-containing minerals were frequently identified as either lead or tin ores. Now a days, Bismuth is usually mixed with other metals, such as lead, tin, iron or cadmium to form low-melting alloys.

Bismuth

Bismuth is the most naturally diamagnetic element, and has one of the lowest values of thermal conductivity among metals. until the 18th century it was often confused with lead and tin, which share some physical properties.

Fun fact: Word origin: The term bismuth comes from the German words weisse masse, meaning white mass.
