Biomolecule Poster: Protein

Some examples of this biomolecule are enzymes, muscle proteins, and hemoglobin.

Common Functions

Some of the common functions of this biomolecule are that some proteins can control the speed of reactions and monitor cell processes. Some are used to create bones and muscles, and others move substances into or out of cells to fight diseases.

There are many examples of proteins. Hemoglobin, for example, carries oxygen for the body. It has a folded and compact shape which enables it to travel through small blood vessels quickly.
