Bill Cosby

Actor, comedian, writer, and producer Bill Cosby. Cosby the oldest of four boys, grew up in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood. At the age of 8, Cosby suffered a great loss when his brother James, the second oldest of the boys, died. Cosby started shining shoes to help out when he was 9 years old. He also later found a job at a supermarket. In school, Cosby was bright but unmotivated. He liked to tell stories and jokes to his classmates more than he liked to do his schoolwork. At home, Cosby listened to a variety of radio programs and started imitating such comedians as Jerry Lewis.

1937-born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.1956- dropped out the U.S. Navy1962-he had a performance in the Gasllight Cafe 1984-Cosby won the Golden Globe

His role on TV’s I Spy made him the first African-American to co-star in a dramatic series, breaking television’s racial barrier and winning three Emmy Awards. In the 1980s, he again rocked the television world with the The Cosby Show, a gentle, whimsical and hugely successful series that single-handedly revived the family sitcom

Lasting Impact

Cosby work hard to get to where he is today and not raging a war against racism

My Opinion

I think that Bill Cosby has really afected the way people think towards diffrent race's he also broke the barrier for African Americans on TV.
