Be Careful When Traveling!The Donner Party was a California Trail wagon train of eighty-one American pioneers who in 1846 found themselves trapped by snow in the Sierra Nevada. Thirty-six members of the party perished as a result of starvation, exposure, disease, and trauma, and some of the survivors resorted to cannibalism.

Following a 13 day siege Mexican troops under President of Mexico launched an assault on the Alamo Mission near San Antonio de Bexar. All of the Texian defenders were killed. The perceived cruelty during the battle inspired many Texians to join the Texian Army. The Texians defeated the Mexican Army at the Battle of San Jacinto, on April 21, 1836, ending the revolution.

Expansion had it's drawbacks though...Goals of American expansionists conflicted with the needs of the Indians in the Plains.Non-Indians started to kill the Indians main source of food- buffalo. Most of the time they would leave everything but the pelt to rot in the sun.By the 1880's it ruined the Indian way of life, but on the bright side it cleared the way for American settlement on the plains!
