In 1728, Benjamin Franklin bought a Print Shop. In the shop, Ben and his friend made and published the Pennsylvannia Gazette in 1729. Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity, he made bifocals, a lightning rod, a stove, and many more! His inventions one day became famous. Later, as he got older, The Pennsylvania Gazette was one of the United States' most prominent newspapers from 1729-1800 and is also consisdered the New York Times newspaper.

The Man of Independence
In 1776, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Robert Livingston, John Adams, and Roger Sherman all wrote the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson asked Ben to edit the Declaration of Independence in June, 1776. On July 4th, 1776, the original Declaration of Independence was officaily writen. Roger Sherman helped write the draft and sign the Declaration of Independence. John Adams helped write the first draft of the Declaration of Independence. Robert Livingston helped write the draft for the Declaration of Independence but was recalled by his state before he could sign it.
