The theory that human and animal behavior can be explained in terms of conditioning, without appeal to thoughts or feelings, and that psychological disorders are best treated by altering behavior patterns.Ex. You may tell jokes becasue you saw somebody tell a joke and others laughed. The laughing was posative reinforcment.

Bobo Doll- An inflatable toy thatstands upright, and comes back after hitting it.

Behaviorism

What is Behaviorism

Utopian- Society in which people are happy and content becasue every memeber of the society contributes and recieves benefits.

John Watson- Founder of behavorism, he said external forces or influences shape peoples preferences and behavior.

Albert Bandura- Any behavior that could be learned from direct exsperience could also be learned by observing and modeling other people.

B.F. Skinner looked at how organisms behave instead of looking inside peoples minds, he emphasized effects of reinforcment on behavior

laborious- requiring a significant amount of time.

Social Cognitive Theory- personality is shaped and learned with interaction of personal factors, behaviors, and environmental factors.

Socialization- process by which people learn the socially desirable behaviors of their particular culture and adopt them as part of their personalities.

Behavior- ones actions or how they conduct themselves.
