Western art shows the artists' acceptance of the violence of war.
In the 19th century artists portrayed the vicious acts and their effects during World War I. This is shown in the Second Battle of Ypres (1917), Gassed (1918), and A Battery Shelled (1919).
17th century showed the influence of women committed in the name of women's rights. This is shown in The Battle of Fontenoy (1745), Women's March on Versallies (1789), and Execution of Louis XVI (1793).
18th century artists were influenced by the death that led to victory. This is shown in The Battle of Leipzig (1813), La Sortie de Missolonghi (1830), and Episode During the Belgium Revolution (1834).
