[2015] Alexes Salinas: Bartolome de las Casas

Bartolome was considered a traitor and was charged with treason for defending the native americans instead of supporting the Spainards. Sepulveda and de las Casas debated about the Natives. Sepulveda justified that waging war in process of conquest in order to christianize the peoples of the Americas while Bartolome argued that if the Native Americans were guilty of human sacrifice it was because of religious thought.

New Laws of 1542- denounced encomienda system a mortal sin.
