Baeder antietam

On September 16, 1862, Maj. Gen. George B. McClellan and his Union Army of the Potomac confronted Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia at Sharpsburg, Maryland. This was exciting since im a union soldier.

The confederate general was Robert E. Lee

My general [Union] is George Mclellan

Hello, I am a Union soldier that goes by the name of Bill.

I wasupset that the bloodiest single day in American military history ended in a draw, but the Confederate retreat gave Abraham Lincoln the “victory” he desired before issuing the Emancipation Proclamation.

There were 12,401 Union casualties, and 10,316 confederate casualties.

After the battle, my General did not pursue the Confederates and we stayed in Sharpsburg burying our dead.

A Union soldier during the battle of Antietam

Every Southerner mourns the loss of General Stonewall Jackson. Never has there been a finer general.

As we marched away from fighting in Fredericksburg, morale has never been worse. Lee tricked us again.

Antietam was the bloodiest single day in America’s history. Our army, and the confederate army will need to recover after losing 26,000 soldiers.

Although the battle was considered adraw froma military point of view, Abraham Lincoln and us union soldiers claimed victory.
