Bactrian Camel

Less than 950 Bactrian Camels in the world!

Bactrian Camels live in Central East Asia's rocky deserts. They are an endangered species. Bactrian Camels can live up to 50 years! WOW! They have big, bushy, eyebrows and two layers of long eyelashes to protect their eyes from the sun.

The Z.S.L. is trying to protect the Bactrian Camel. The Z.S.L is trying to get the tools and skills to know how to help protect the camel. The camel lives in deserts with hills of green and rocks everywhere. There is also a lot of sand.

Bactrian Camels will probably live for the next three generations. They are on the edge of extintion.

Bactrian Camels have two humps!

Bactrian Camels are endangered mainly because of the lack of water. During winter when it snows, the snow doesn't melt because it's to cold. Then the sun's rays finally hit the snow. But instead of the snow melting it turns to vapor and the camels have no water. Usually they're able to drink 10 gallons of water a day, but instead in the winter Bactrian Camels have to eat 2 gallons of snow for water!

Some Bactrian Camels are white! Cool!
