Autobiographical Poetry Example 1

Love is the anterior to life,Posterior to death,Initial of creation, andThe exponent of breath.

Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul,And sings the tune without the words, And never stops at all,And sweetest in the gale is heard; And sore must be the stormThat could abash the little birdThat kept so many warm.I've heard it in the chillest land,And on the strangest sea;Yet, never, in extremity, It asked a crumb of me.

A word is dead When it is said, Some say.I say it justBegins to livethat day.

These poems are all wriiten by Emily Dickinson. She is my favorite poet and I have been reading her poems since I was eleven. I chose the poem about hope because I want my daughter's to have hope. I think that hope can be endless and comforting. There is no price to pay for having hope.

I chose this poem because it was one of the first Emily Dickinson poems I ever read. I believe that words live forever even if we don't write them down. I also believe we need to becareful what we say because we can't ever really take something back.
