E.B. White was one of the most important and creative writers in children's literature. He wrote his first story in 1945. It was about a boy named Stuart Little. He was literally the size of a mouse, but the book created smiles larger than life! In 1952, he wrote the famous classic and one of the most wonderful children's books of all time, Charlotte's Web. Both Charlotte's Web and Stuart Little won the Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal. This is a very big award in the fabulous world of children's literature. Lastly, his final book was The Trumpet of the Swan. This book is about a trumpeter swan who is born without a voice and instead learns to play the trumpet. Sadly, E.B. White passed away on October 1, 1985. His classic stories live on for a lifetime.
