Here is a really fun interview with Jan Brett as they discuss her love for books and art work. Just use the lovely flower to check the article out for yourself.1. It can take her three hours to draw an inch of one of her beautiful illistratiouns. 2. She still doesn't own a tv but instead spends her free time drawing, and that's how she spent her free time when she was younger too. 3. It also takes her a year on average to write one of her books.

Jan Brett has over fourty million books in print. Making her one of the most loved children authors and illustartors. At a very young age Jan knew she wanted to be an illustrator and would practice drawing for hours. From studying at the Boston Mesuem School her paintings take on some of the the intricate details from the tapistraisy and porcline she would observe. Jan and her husband love to travel, and she uses their adventures as insperation for many of her stories. The goal that she desires for her books is to have the story come to life for readers, just how her stories are very much alive to her.

Website Features

Fritz and theBeautiful HorsesThis was one of my very favorite Jan Brett books as a child. It teachers children about how imporant it is to include everyone no matter how different they are. Genre, picture book.

The Mitten This playful story is a whimsical idea of a lost mitten being found by many different woodland creatures. Genre, picture book, audiance, 1st -4th

The UmbrellaThis is a great jungle version of the mitten. Having a bunch of tropical animals trying to all share one small umbrella. The pictures help bring this colorful story alive. Genre picture book, audiance 1st-4th.

Comet's nine livesThis is a magical story about a cat who know's he has nine lives. Playing on a common phrase and turning it into a vibrant story. Jan paints beautiful sandy beachs and even more realistic flowers. Genre, picture book, audiance 1st-4th.
